Where do we use an apostrophe?Answered On :2013-12-15 , Asked By : devrishi_in

Apostrophe can be used in a number of occasions in the English language. It is quite often misused at places where it is not needed, for example to show plurals, etc. Let’s see two of the most common uses of the apostrophe.

An apostrophe is used:

  1. To show possession. For example:

That is my father’s watch.

That is a boys’ hostel.

  1. In contractions. For example:

I can’t do this for you.

I wasn’t there that day.

Isn’t it the same watch that we saw at the mall yesterday?
