The word 'would' is generally used in

- Imaginary situations

For example : If I had the money, I would buy a plane.

If I had won the lottery, I would have travelled the world.

- Past Tense in Reported Speech

For example : Manoj said that he would not be able to meet you.

Megha told me that she would be late.

- Past Tense for repeated action (replacing 'used to')

For example : When I lived in Canada, I would go to the mall every weekend.

When I was young, I would meet my grandparents every month.
